Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Mission Board. They cover what this app is, what you may and may not do here, and what it does not promise. Using the app means agreeing to them.

1. What Mission Board is
Mission Board is a board where people post errands — missions — and other people take them on. The reward is described in prose and settled between the two of you, away from this app. Mission Board takes no fee, processes no payment, and is not a party to whatever you agree between yourselves. It introduces people and keeps a record; everything after that is between you.
2. Who may use it
You must be 18 or older, and able to enter into a contract where you live. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by somebody who has your password.
3. Your account
You sign in with an email address and a password, or with a provider account, and you choose a display name that everyone here sees. Choose one you are willing to be known by: it appears on every mission you post, take on or finish. Do not impersonate somebody else, and do not use a name that exists to confuse people about who you are.
4. What you may not do
You agree not to use Mission Board to:
- ask for or offer anything illegal where either of you is — that includes controlled substances, weapons, stolen goods, and work that requires a licence you do not hold;
- post work that is unsafe, or that you know somebody would have to break the law to complete;
- harass, threaten, defame or deliberately mislead anybody, here or in the arrangements that follow from here;
- post somebody else’s personal information — an address, a phone number, a photograph of them — without their agreement;
- advertise, recruit, solicit donations, or use the board for anything that is not an errand somebody is genuinely offering or taking on;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-collect what other people have posted, or work around the limits on how much can be posted or sent;
- attempt to reach accounts, data or parts of the system that are not yours.
5. What you post
What you write and photograph stays yours. By posting it you give Mission Board permission to store it and to show it to the people this app is built to show it to — which is set out on the privacy page and enforced by the database rather than by policy. That permission exists so the app can function, and for nothing else: your missions, messages, photographs and recaps are not used to train anything, sold, or shown outside the app.
You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
Some of it outlives your account. A completed mission, the log of what happened to it, the recap written about it and the messages exchanged over it are somebody else’s record as much as yours. Deleting your account takes your name off them; it does not delete them.
6. Meeting people, and doing the work
Mission Board does not check anybody. It does not verify identity, run background checks, confirm that a reward will be paid, or vouch for anyone. The counts on a profile are a record of what has happened on this board and nothing more.
Places are shown to about 500 metres, never exactly, and an exact address is only ever given by a person deciding to give it. Use your judgement about who you meet and what you agree to. Anything that happens between you — including money, damage, injury or a promise nobody kept — is between you.
7. Reports, suspension and ending it
You can report a mission, a conversation or a person. There is no moderation team and no dispute process: a report is read by the person running this app, and nothing follows from one automatically. Blocking somebody is the tool that works immediately, and it works in both directions.
Content that breaks these terms may be removed, and an account may be suspended or closed, without notice where somebody is being harmed. You can close your own account at any time from settings, subject to what section 5 says about the parts that stay.
8. What is not promised
Mission Board is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It is small, new, and run by one person. There is no promise that it will be available, that it will not lose data, or that anybody on it will behave. To the fullest extent the law allows, Mission Board is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for anything arising out of an arrangement between two people who met here, or for more than the amount you have paid to use it — which is nothing.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Changes
These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top says when they last did. If a change matters — if it affects what you may do, or what happens to what you have posted — it will be said in the app and not only here. Carrying on using Mission Board after a change means accepting it; if you would rather not, close your account.
10. Law, and getting in touch
These terms are governed by the law of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts there. If any part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still stands.
Questions, complaints and requests to remove something go to the person running this app, through the address given on the sign-in page.
This is a prototype
Said on the privacy page and worth saying here: this app has not been audited, and this agreement has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Do not put anything on it you would be badly hurt by losing, and do not rely on it for anything that matters more than an errand.
